A site everyone can use

I want every review to work for you, whether you use a screen reader, a keyboard, a magnifier or a phone in a cold garden at midnight.

What the site does

Alt text

Photographs and night-sky frames carry a text description. Purely decorative pictures are marked so screen readers skip them, and star ratings are read out as a number out of 100.

Keyboard

Everything works from a keyboard. A "Skip to content" link comes first, menus open with Enter or Space, and a gold outline shows where you are.

Contrast

Light text on a dark background, chosen to be readable at night. Scores are always shown as numbers, never by colour alone.

Reduced motion

If your device asks for reduced motion, the twinkling star backgrounds hold still and sections appear without sliding in.

The standard I aim for

The target is WCAG 2.2 level AA, the usual benchmark for accessible websites.

Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels, and the site works on screens down to phone width without scrolling sideways.

I know of a few places where the site falls short, and I am working through them:

  • Some small grey labels, such as dates and captions, are slightly below the AA contrast ratio.
  • A few moving elements, such as silent video loops, do not yet stop when your device asks for reduced motion.

Report a problem

If something does not work for you, please tell me.

Email [email protected] with the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong. If you use assistive technology, tell me which one, and the browser and device, as it helps me reproduce the problem.

I will reply, and if you need something from a review in another format, such as the key facts in plain text, ask and I will send it.

This statement was written on 2 October 2026 from my own checks of the site. It will be updated as the known issues above are fixed.
